A metro Atlanta man won big when he matched five numbers playing Powerball. On Thursday morning, David Jackson of Clayton County happily accepted his $1 million payout.
Jackson says he would have been happy winning $100. But as a father of six kids, this changes his whole life.
Jackson, 33, bought his winning ticket at the Georgia Food Mart on Highway 138 S.W. in Riverdale. While he claimed his prize on Thursday, he didn't want to be interviewed.
Salima Battliwala, who owns the store that sold Jackson his winning ticket, is thrilled. She's owned the store for two years, and she says it's the first time this has happened. She says contrary to popular belief, the store doesn't get a percentage of the winning ticket, but she'll profit from the additional business it brings her.
Jackson told lottery officials he'll use his winnings to take care of his family, and buy Christmas presents.
