Longtime Cass Corridor resident helps bring back the neighborhood

SOUTHFIELD, Mich. (myFOXDetroit.com) -

Joel Landy has lived in Midtown for over 40 years. And over the years he's bought up property – 27 buildings to be exact – and is turning them into something Detroit can be proud of.

Some become apartment buildings and others restaurants, but perhaps one of the more unique flips is the old Burton International School, part of Detroit Public Schools, that is now a 140 seat movie theater.

The Cass City Cinema is equipped with all the newest technology including digital projection, 35mm film projection, 16mm film projection, and 4000 watts of six-channel DOLBY sound.

The venue shows both Hollywood and independent films. For show times and other information visit their web site: www.casscitycinema.com

Check out the video as FOX 2's Amy Lange takes us through the many other Detroit buildings Landy has purchased and cleaned up.
