ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35 ORLANDO) -
Troopers with the Florida Highway Patrol are investigating a fatal hit and run which has left two dead in Orange County.
The incident happened in the Meadow Woods area near Landstar Blvd. and Town Center Blvd. around 7:45 p.m. This area is located near the Orange-Osceola county line about a mile east of Florida's Turnpike and less than a mile south of State Road 417 (Central Florida GreeneWay).
Landstar was closed in both directions for several hours as troopers collected evidence and witness statements.
An unknown driver was traveling northbound Landstar Blvd. and struck two women as they were attempting to cross the road. The women have been identified as 77-year-old Morella Arias, an Orlando resident, and Gerardina Lopez, 82, who is visiting from Colombia.
Troopers are looking for a white Honda with a spoiler on the back. The car was also described as having halogen (blue-tinted) lights.
