There has been much discussion about how the modern toilet is in need of a makeover as some health experts say that squatting while using the bathroom is better than sitting, especially for patients with colon issues.
In an effort to help alleviate the strain caused by using the westernized toilet, Robert Edwards created the Squatty Potty, a toilet stool that improves bathroom posture by making it easier to squat. Promoters of the product say squatting leads to more effective elimination of waste and may help prevent colon disease, hemorrhoids and similar ailments.
Presently, the Squatty Potty comes in three designs: Ecco, Tao Bamboo and Classic.
Edwards isn't the only one trying to redesign the way we "go." Earlier this year, Microsoft founder Bill Gates and his wife hosted the Reinvent The Toilet Challenge in Seattle, in an effort to inspire new ways to remove waste without the use of running water.
