A convicted felon whom authorities say caused a 10-hour standoff Sunday at an apartment complex is on the run today and may be holding his girlfriend hostage, Orange County deputies said.
Eugene Govan, 28, reportedly had an ongoing feud with some residents at Green Gables apartments, near Texas Avenue and Americana Boulevard, Fox 35's Kelly Joyce reports.
On Sunday, he entered an apartment and threatened the occupants, which included several children, authorities say. The occupants escaped safely, but no one saw Govan leave the apartment, which led to a 10-hour standoff.
SWAT units eventually were called in, which tore down a wall to get into the unit. Govan was not found.
Govan's girlfriend, Lawanda Dixson, is believed to be with him, and deputies say she could be Govan's hostage.
Govan has a lengthy criminal history, having been arrested more than 30 times. He should be considered armed and dangerous, the Sheriff's Office said.
