Cops busted California man with 75 lbs. of marijuana

CRYSTAL LAKE, Ill. (Sun-Times Media Wire) -
A California man was charged with drug trafficking after police found about 75 pounds of marijuana hidden in his van.
Michael P. Karavaster, 38, of the 1600 block of Ottawa Court in Sunnyvale, Calif., was charged with one count each of felony cannabis trafficking, unlawful possession of cannabis with intent to deliver and unlawful possession of cannabis, according to a release from the McHenry County Sheriff's office.
A Sheriff's office stopped a 2011 Mercedes Sprinter van Monday near Illinois Route 31 and Illinois Route 14 in Crystal Lake and a police dog found eight "shipment boxes" of cannabis hidden in a crate, the release said. Deputies recovered about 75 pounds of cannabis worth about $290,0000.
Karavaster was taken into custody and charged, the release said. A bond and court date have not yet been set.
