Test Track – Presented by Chevrolet at Epcot officially reopened to guests on December 6. The ride has gotten quiet a facelift, and if you like fast cars, you'll love this ride.
Test Track Presented by Chevrolet is giving guests at Epcot a thrill. "It's the fastest ride on Walt Disney property," said project Imagineer Melissa Jeselnick.
Test Track opened in 1999, but Jeselnick said it was time to take this ride for a different turn of it's own. "The world has changed a lot since then and that's why we wanted to tell a new story," she said.
The re-engineered ride allows guests to create their ideal virtual custom concept vehicle. Guests enter a Design Studio and make a series of selections. In order to design your own car, all you have to do is swipe a design key, then decide on the size, make and even the color of the car you want.
Passengers then board a six-passenger SimCar for a test drive to see how their own design compares to the attraction's SimCar in Capability, Efficiency, Responsiveness and Power. The car goes up to 65 mph.
"I think the biggest challenge was taking a ride that guests love and telling a new story but keeping it relevant to our audiences," Jeselnick said.
In a post-show, guests can see how well their car performed, and race it over changing terrains and extreme conditions on a digital driving table. Guests can also produce and star in a TV commercial for their custom cars, explore a Chevrolet showroom that will feature the latest models, and more.
