A story of an attempted abduction, reported to the Longwood Police Department over the weekend by two teenagers, has turned out to be a fabrication.
The juveniles reported a man attempted to drag one of them into a wooded area while both were jogging along the railroad tracks on Longwood Street near Orange Avenue. The victims told investigators that, during the struggle, they and the suspect fell to the ground, rolled down a small hill and landed in a ditch located alongside Longwood Street.
During the investigation, it was observed that the two teens and their clothing were clean and did not appear to have been in a struggle that occurred in the dirt. There were also no signs of a physical confrontation in the dirt and ditch, according to the police.
During a subsequent interview, they both admitted that there was no abduction attempt. They stated that they were out looking for someone who allegedly had an earlier confrontation with one of the boys.
