A northwest suburban woman and her adult son are behind bars Thursday after being charged with the drug-induced death of a man who ingested two Fentanyl patches they sold him.

On Sept. 18 at about 9 p.m., the Lake County Sheriff's office began an investigation into the death of Jeffrey Ferris, who was dropped off by Brian Stedronsky at about 1 a.m. after partying, according to the sheriff's office.

The Lake County Coroner's office ruled the death of Ferris, 30, of the 34000 Block of Oden in Ingleside, a homicide.

Brian Stedronsky told detectives he sold Ferris two Fentanyl patches and Ferris cut them open, sucking out the medication, according to police. Brian Stedronsky said he bought the pain patches from his mother, and said they were the second and third patches he sold Ferris.

Carolyn Stedronsky told detectives she took the patches from her husband, who was prescribed the medication for an injury, a statement from the sheriff's office said.

On Tuesday, the Lake County State's Attorney's office issued Class X felony warrants for Brian Stedronsky, 32, and Carolyn Stedronsky, 52, charging both with drug-induced homicide. Both were arrested without incident.

Brian Stedronsky, of the 35000 block of North Milwaukee Avenue in Ingleside, and Carolyn Stedronsky, of the 34000 block of Oden in Ingleside, appeared in bond court Wednesday. Brian Stedronsky's bond was set at $300,000 and Carolyn Stedronsky's was ordered held on $250,000, the statement said.

Both remain in custody at the Lake County Jail, and are next scheduled to appear in court on Dec. 11.
