PHILADELPHIA -
The Phillies won't be leaving baseball's winter meetings empty-handed, after all, as they've dealt two pitchers to the Minnesota Twins for centerfielder Ben Revere.
The Phils have confirmed that they are sending the Twins starting pitcher Vance Worley and minor-league pitching prospect Trevor May.
Revere, 24, batted .294 with no home runs and 32 RBIs last season for the Twins. He had 54 strikeouts to 29 walks.
He first appeared in the bigs back in 2010 as a 22-year-old but has yet to hit a home run. His power numbers increased just marginally during significant playing time the past two seasons.
But he'll cover ground quickly in the outfield, and his speed has already helped him swipe 74 bases. He's made eight errors, 11 outfield assists and three double-plays in his 238 games in the field, all in the outfield.
Worley, known as the "Vanimal" to fans, is also 24. After an 11-win season in 2011, he slid to 6-9 with a 4.20 ERA in 2012, giving up 154 hits in 133 innings and striking out 107 compared to 47 walks.
Fox's Ken Rosenthal called May "a top prospect." The 23-year-old 6-foot-5-inch 215-pound right-hander was 10-13 at Double-A Reading last season with a 4.87 ERA, allowing just 139 hits over his 149.2 innings and recording more than a strikeout per inning, but also giving up a fair share of walks at 78.
Earlier in the day, the Phillies were rumored to be discussing a trade for Texas Rangers thirdbaseman Michael Young.
And the team selected outfielder Ender Inciarte and left-handed pitcher Brendan Lafferty in Thursday's Rule 5 Draft.
