A Sanford family is distraught over a break-in which left their home ransacked and their pet Chihuahua missing. To add insult to injury, the thieves returned to the scene of the crime to take a truck.
David Darke showed us where thieves kicked-in the front door of his home on Wednesday, in broad daylight, while he and his wife were at work.
"I navigated my way past the cushions to come in here and find all the drawers open, clothes all over the ground, the TV is gone, the shelf has been tipped over," he said.
Later that night, they realized that their truck, which had been parked in the driveway, was gone -- the burglars had hit a second time.
"The truck which was parked right there, I opened the garage, and it's just gone, and a wave of terror just washed over me."
What troubles them the most, is that the crooks took one of their two Chihuahuas.
"He's a puppy, and I knew he was gone," said Parke. "I got him last Christmas, we just have to get him back!"
Little Dexter has fur that is mostly black, with a white patch on its stomach. It brings this family to tears thinking about their precious pooch in the hands of criminals. they have been posting flyers around their neighborhood, in the hopes that someone will bring the dog home.
"Leave my dog! Leave my family alone! It's brutal! I would never wish that on anyone, even my worst enemy, especially with the holidays around the corner."
The family is offering a reward for the dog. Anyone with information should call the Sanford police department at 407-688-5070.
