Firefighter accused of trying to strangle girlfriend
WINTER SPRINGS, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35 ORLANDO) -
A Seminole County firefighter was arrested Sunday on two felony domestic violence charges after police say he tried to strangle his girlfriend, pointed a gun at her face and threatened to kill her.
Dean Erlandson, 24, is being held in the Seminole County Jail on no bond.
Winter Springs Police say Erlandson became enraged after discovering text messages from an ex-boyfriend on his girlfriend's phone. They say he tried to strangle his girlfriend and violently pushed her to the ground. He pulled out a knife and a gun, which he pointed at her face, and threatened to kill himself and her, according to a police report.
The girlfriend managed to escape, run out of the house and screamed for help from the lawn, police said.
Erlandson already is facing assault charges after being accused of beating up a man in a downtown Orlando parking lot in August.
Erlandson is scheduled to appear before a judge for the domestic violence charges this afternoon.
