'Green Monday' becomes new shopping day for procrastinators

Posted: Updated:

Here's the deal: If you have not shopped yet, call in sick to work. You will need the day.

If you have shopped, be careful, because this is going to make you mad.

The retail giants are unveiling even more savings today. Go online to Target and the Lego sales are amazing.

Discount retail giants Walmart and Amazon are also offering plenty of great "Green Monday 2012" sales and deals.

While "Cyber Monday" has been around for several years now, Green Monday is new. In fact, Walmart experienced its first Green Monday last year when the company experienced their second highest traffic day ever.

Experts say this is the day for procrastinators.

Walmart is offering a Razor scooter for $20, which normally runs about $35. Walmart is also offering a huge 55-inch HDTV at a $600 savings.

Walmart's sales seem to based around electronics, cameras, and big sports gear, like basketball hoops and trampolines.

Amazon still has its lightening deals, including several on batteries.

At the same time, FedEx team members are preparing for a record-breaking day today. In all, 19 million packages are expected to move through the FedEx networks on what is projected to be the busiest day in company history.

The 300,000 FedEx team members and approximately 20,000 seasonal personnel will have their hands full, supporting systems that will process more than 200 packages per second.

At FedEx, they have been preparing for this busy holiday shipping season for almost a year now. The surge, of course, is because all of us are shopping online.
