The Chicago Bears have placed kicker Robbie Gould on the injured reserve, ending his season.
Gould strained his left calf while kicking mid-range field goals during warm-ups shortly before last Sunday's game against the Minnesota Vikings.
The Bears signed kicker Olindo Mare to a one-year contract Tuesday. Mare has played for four teams over 15 seasons, but hasn't played yet this year.
The Bears also placed cornerback Sherrick McManis (knee) and safety Craig Steltz (chest) on injured reserve Tuesday.
The team also signed linebacker Jerry Franklin to a two-year contract and elevated wide receiver Joe Anderson from the practice squad to the 53-man roster. They also signed guard Chris Riley to the practice squad and waived guard Andre Gurode.
The 6-1, 245-pound Franklin entered the NFL this season as an undrafted free agent with the Denver Broncos out of Arkansas. He has also seen time on the practice squads of Carolina and Dallas.
