ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) -- Former New York state comptroller Alan Hevesi has been released from prison after serving 20 months for his leading role in an influence-peddling scandal at the state's massive pension fund.

State corrections officials say Hevesi left the Mid-State Correctional Facility in Oneida County Wednesday morning. He was granted parole in November.

As comptroller, Hevesi was sole trustee of the fund now valued at nearly $150 billion.

The 72-year-old former assemblyman and New York City comptroller was entangled in an investigation of so-called "pay-to-play" practices at the fund.

Hevesi was sentenced to from one to four years in prison after pleading guilty in 2010 to official misconduct.
