GAINESVILLE, Ga. (AP) - A Dawson County, Ga., prosecutor who was allegedly being investigated by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation has been found dead.
The Times of Gainesville (http://bit.ly/SY37pz) quotes the District 4 Florida Medical Examiner's Office in Jacksonville, Fla., as confirming the death of John G. Wilbanks Jr., who headed the Dawson County office for Hall-Dawson District Attorney Lee Darragh.
The Times reported Thursday that Wilbanks was being investigated by the GBI "with the cooperation of Darragh's office."
The newspaper quoted GBI spokesman John Bankhead as saying that a superior court judge had requested the investigation. He did not reveal further details.
