DCFS investigates death of Near West Side infant, autopsy inconclusive

CHICAGO (Sun-Times Media Wire) -
Lavarius Young, of the 2000 block of West Adams Street, became unresponsive at home and was pronounced dead at John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County at 8:04 a.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.
The Illinois Department of Children and Family Services is investigating Lavarius' mother for neglect, said spokesman Dave Clarkin. DCFS has had no prior contact with the family, and Clarkin did not know of any other children in the home.
The Friday autopsy of 7-month-old Lavarius Young was inconclusive.
