Businesses reliant on snow feel the pinch this winter

Posted: Updated:
CHICAGO (Associated Press) -

The lack of snowfall this season has some businesses feeling the pinch.

Scott Enke has been the manager of Village True Value for more than 20 years in Western Springs. He says usually snow-related items like snow blowers and shovels are hard to keep on the shelves. But not this year.

The manager of Chestnut Mountain Ski Resort in Galena tells the Chicago Tribune the resort tried to open in late November with man-made snow but had to close because it was too warm.

Chicago still hasn't had its first measurable snowfall this season.

The city broke its record last week for most days between snowfalls. It could break another record if there's no snow by midnight Sunday - the latest date for first measurable snow.
