PHILADELPHIA -

As the peak of the holiday season quickly approaches, drivers are seeing some relief at the pumps.

According to AAA, gas prices have dropped to their lowest level of the year.

AAA's Daily Fuel Gauge shows the national average for a gallon of gas is now $3.25.

The price is down slightly from what it was a day ago, $3.26, and a month ago, when it was $3.42 according to AAA.

A year ago at this time, AAA reports a gallon of gas was $3.24.

The drop comes as travel experts predict this year to be the busiest holiday travel season in six years.

By Thursday a cold front moves by bringing more rain.  It will also bring drier and cooler weather by Friday as we finally clear out.
