Study: Cardio burns more fat than weight training

CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

As you start to think about that New Year's weight loss resolution, a new study suggests you'll want to hit the treadmill more than the weight room.

Researchers at Duke University found that aerobic workouts are better than resistance training for reducing fat mass.

Authors say a workout that combines the two is not better at burning fat than running alone.

The study did find that resistance training does still have benefits--especially for older adults experiencing muscle loss.
