How to help families of Newtown victims

Posted: Updated:
NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) -

In the wake of the tragedy in Newtown, Conn., people from all over the tristate and even the country are asking how they can help.

Several funds as well as other resources to help the families of the 20 children and six adults who died in Friday's shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School have been established.

The My Sandy Hook Family Fund plans to distribute contributions it raises equally among the victim families.  It is dedicated to providing immediate and continuing support for the 26 families.  The fund has already started distributing money and hopes to raise $2.6 million in total.

Eastern Connecticut State University has established a scholarship in the name of alumna Victoria Leigh Soto, a first-grade teacher at Sandy Hook who died protecting her students. To donate to the memorial scholarship fund, click here.
