Chicago golden retrievers sent to Newtown to offer comfort

CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

Organizations across the country are reaching out to help the victims of the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting in Newtown, Conn.

A group of Chicago canines from Lutheran Church Charities arrived in the area to help residents cope with the tragedy this week.

Six golden retrievers were ready to bring comfort to the town on Monday.

Some of the dogs are there specifically to comfort the children who witnessed the massacre on Friday, and can't find the words to express their grief.

One of the dog's owners is from the town of Sandy Hook. She said she is overwhelmed by all of the support.
