A valley man learned he will pay the ultimate price for the murders of his two young sons on Wednesday and a family member of the little boys said it best -- there are no winners here.
As the jury announced that Leteve would be put to death, the convicted murderer showed no emotion.
"It is the order of the court that you, Andre Michael Leteve, be sentenced to death by lethal injection."
Leteve was given the chance to speak, but said nothing.
It's been nearly two and a half years since the 40-year-old killed his 5-year-old son Alec and 1-year-old son Asher, then turned the gun on himself.
But his suicide attempt failed. Now if appeals are not successful, he'll be put to death. One juror says it was not an easy choice.
"We had a great jury. A great jury. But it is still a difficult decision. But we followed the rules that he state sets up and the rules said death."
According to prosecutors, Leteve was in the midst of a bitter divorce and facing financial problems back in March 2010. He even wrote a suicide note to his then-wife a few days before the murders which he had the two little boys sign.
After the verdict, the children's maternal grandmother spoke out.
"There is no winner here. Alec and Asher are gone and there was terrible tragedy this weekend. Let this be one small step in stopping violence all over our country," said Marcia Zellner.
Leteve lost part of his tongue in the failed suicide attempt and was even able to call 911 afterwards.
Leteve's attorney never denied he killed his two boys. They insisted it was not a pre-meditated attack, but rather an desperate act by a man going through financial problems and an ugly divorce.
