Early AM Rains Give Way To Sporadic Flooding

Posted: Updated:
PHILADELPHIA -

Wind-driven rain greeted commuters Friday morning as they began their drive to work. The rain is moving out of our area, but sporadic flooding conditions remain.

Fox 29 Photographer Tina Hogate captured some major flooding down by Penns Landing on Delaware Avenue.

FOX 29's Steve Keeley was talking to truckers in Deepwater, N.J, who reported that driving conditions are not good. The winds are blowing their rigs all over the road, they said.

Crashes involving jack-knifed tractor-trailers were slowing portions of the Vine Street Expressway and southbound Interstate 95 closed in Philadelphia early Friday morning.

FOX 29's Sue Serio says temperatures are mild in the 50s this morning but don't let that fool you. You will need winter coat later on today as temperatures plummet through the 40s all afternoon.

Wind speeds were at 28 miles mph in Philadelphia and 44 mph in Wilmington before sunrise. We did have a 60-mph gust locally and a 41-mph gust in Philly. A wind advisory is in effect for Delaware as well as South Jersey.

Rain moved in Saturday afternoon and the chance for it will stick around through the seven day forecast.

It becomes very unsettled across our area with clounds and showers again Sunday.  The best chance for rain is in the morning and afternoon thunderstorms are possible towards our south.

Sunday is cool but we do warm up well into the 80s by Tuesday.  With the warm weather comes a better chance for thunderstorms.
