One person was killed and another injured Monday afternoon when a small plane crashed near Leesburg.
The survivor was transported to a hospital. The identities of the victims have not been released.Alexis Caldwell, who lives down the road from where the plane went down, said the crash sounded like a car accident.
"I just heard a boom," she said.
Another witness, Beverly Swank, and another neighbor ran outside to investigate after hearing the crash.
"I yelled, 'What's going on?'" Swank said. "I heard sirens, and he yelled, 'A plane went down.'"
Swank said the plane crashed in an open field on her neighbor's property. She said horses and cows are normally in the field."There was no smoke," Swank said. "There was no fire. Absolutely nothing. They [authorities] did bring a lady out. They said there was one other person on the plane."
Said C.C. Caldwell, who was working down the road from the crash: "The plane just actually stalled. I heard when it stalled, and it just crashed -- bang!"
The Orlando Sentinel reports the aircraft was a 15-passenger plane.
The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating the incident.
