An overstock of several General Motors vehicles could mean incredible deals before the new year.
Sales at many GM dealerships have been so sluggish nationwide, even if assembly lines came to a halt today, GM and Ford both would have six months' worth of supply on certain models.
One seller in Kissimmee is offering a free Dodge Dart if you buy a higher-priced vehicle.
And their overstock could mean a bargain for car shoppers.
GM is offering $2,000 off cars such as the Malibu and Cruze through Jan. 2. And some reports say dealers are offering up to $5,000 off pickup trucks such as the Silverado and Sierra.
Slower car sales could be tied with the conclusion by retail analysts that not as many shoppers were willing to go into debt this holiday season.
"Consumers this year said they were going to use cash, check, or debit card and they were not going to waver," retail analyst Britt Beemer said.
"What does that mean? It means I can only spend what I have in my checking account," he said.
