Flagstaff sees more snow, valley gets some sprinkles

Posted: Updated:

Snow fell throughout the day in Flagstaff Thursday. This is the 2nd snow storm to move through Flagstaff in the past 3 days.

The snow is a welcome sight for people in Flagstaff. A lot of valley families took advantage of the school break to head north and play in the snow.

Only a couple of inches were expected to fall, but it's enough to keep fresh powder on the slopes, and enough to keep the snowballs launching.

"They love it, they get to see the falling snow and they play in the snow and snow fights and making snow angels," said Chandler resident Sung Park.

"It's wonderful, great for the kids to have some fun… sleds and building snowmen and throwing snowballs at one another, all sorts of fun," said Chris, a father.

Snowbowl had 6 inches of fresh snow in the past 24 hours, and now has a 34-inch snow base.

In Munds Park, just south of Flagstaff, flurries came down pretty hard. And the neighborhood was already covered with several inches of snow.

According to the national weather service, some parts of Flagstaff got as much as 5 inches today.

In the north valley, low-lying clouds dropped rain Thursday afternoon.

Not all of that rain is hitting the ground, but some of it is. And the rain may head south to the valley into Thursday night.
