Police: Conn. barber shop owner dealt drugs

Posted: Updated:

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (AP) - Police in Bridgeport have arrested a barber shop owner they say has been selling drugs out of his home and business.

Police said they seized nearly $48,000 worth of heroin and $25,000 in cash from Irvin Villegas's home and SUV on Wednesday.

The 35-year-old Villegas and two people with him when police pulled him over Wednesday were arrested on charges including possession of narcotics with intent to sell.

Police said the arrests were the culmination of months of investigation of Villegas, owner of the Look N Image shop, whom police said is a felon with robbery and weapons convictions.

They said they stopped his car Wednesday and found heroin. They said a later search of his house turned up heroin, cocaine and the cash.

A message was left Thursday at a listing for Villegas.
