Authorities are still searching for the hit-and-run driver involved in a crash that killed the popular worker of a downtown Orlando bar three weeks ago.
Aaron Jones, who worked at The Other Bar at Wall Street Plaza, was killed in the early morning hours of December 7 as he rode his scooter on Goldenrod Road near Valencia College Lane.
The Florida Highway Patrol has not made much progress in finding the driver of a white car they say was involved in the crash that killed Jones.
In surveillance video obtained from a bar just across the street from the accident, a white car can be seen turning into Jones as he drove southbound.
The car took off.
Minutes later, a second car came by, stopping to try to help Jones.
Jones' parents were too choked up to speak with Fox 35 on camera, but they wrote a letter to try and express their feelings about the loss of their son and the search for the other driver:
"We are not vengeful people. We wish no ill will to the person who did this and do not hate him. We only want resolution. The Bible says no man is an island unto himself. Every person is someone's son, brother, grandson, cousin or friend, and the choices we make affect them, and the others around them. We pray that each person has a conscience also, and that it will guide you to do the right thing.
If you are the person who did this, or you know who did it, please come forward. Free your conscience and your soul. Next time (and there probably will be a next time if not held accountable), it could be someone you love, too. No one else should have to lose someone they love, with no resolve to help in their grief.
We will always have a broken family chain, and he will be greatly missed by his family and friends. But we don't want our last memories of this time to be the turmoil of this search. Help us to be able to lay our son to rest peacefully, by resolving all the issues regarding his tragic death. Please, let your conscience guide you, and help us."
