Police say several people were stabbed at a party in southeast Atlanta early on Tuesday morning.
According to Atlanta police, units responded to a 911 call in the area of North Avenue and Freedom Parkway at around 3 a.m. They say a driver was attempting to get two people to a hospital after they suffered stab wounds to the leg and abdomen. It was there that officers learned the stabbing incident took place at a home on the 200 block of Gibson Street.
Investigators say a fight broke out at the home between 19-year-old Luke O'Donovan and Andrew Mainor. Witnesses tell police that during the altercation, O'Donovan stabbed Mainor. They say when other people tried to break up the fight, O'Donovan allegedly cut several other guests.
"The moment the fight started, everyone was trying to separate them, because no one wants to see a fight. It's a new year, it's a brand new day, no one wants to fight," said Cheryl Watt.
After it was over, six people, including O'Donovan, were all treated for injuries. At least one victim remained hospitalized on Tuesday.
O'Donovan is facing five counts of aggravated assault. The incident remains under investigation.
