Now that you probably have a stack of holiday gift cards burning a hole in your pocket, several national retail chains are hoping to entice you to cash them in this weekend.
Bath & Body Works, Applebee's, Chili's Grill & Bar, Olive Garden, Regal Entertainment Group and California Pizza Kitchen are some of the retail outlets participating in the second annual Gift Card Weekend from January 4-6, 2013.
Some participating retailers are offering extra incentives in addition to the value of the gift card. For instance, AMC Theatres is offering a regular-size candy for $1 or a large-size candy for $2 when you buy any combo this weekend.
"The goal of Gift Card Weekend is to help retail partners and consumers alike through enhancing the holiday giving and receiving experience. Consumers will benefit directly by taking advantage of discounts available to them through their gift cards," Rebekka Rea, Retail Gift Card Association's executive director, said in a statement.
Other participating retailers include Bass Pro Shops, Cabela's LongHorn Steakhouse, Marriott, Red Robin, Sephora and SpaFinder Wellness.
