Orlando police officers are searching for two men who carjacked a woman at gunpoint as she was outside her office at the Edgewater Commerce Center off of Edgewater Drive.
According to investigators, 25-year-old Preta Nauth was outside her office at Kablelink Communications, when two men startled her in the parking lot. One pointed a gun and forced her to lay on the ground. The men then took off with this white Ford Focus, which is a company car. It all happened around 9:30 a.m. on Monday morning.
Cops say the car was later found on Orange Blossom Trail abandoned, but had no damage. However, a briefcase full of checks and work orders was stolen.
Tricia Morrison who works a few doors down in the same strip mall with several businesses, said she intends to be more careful when she comes and goes from work, "Because I don't always come in or leave at the same time as everybody else. I'd probably watch that."
Another woman who works at a church says, "The people that come in and out I will let them know, we have a prayer meeting tonight."
"We're thinking about putting security up to monitor the vans, even in the back," said John Connolly who manages a solar company here. He said this isn't the first time there has been trouble in the strip mall off Edgewater Drive. vHe tells us his work vans have been broken into four times in the last three years, adding, "Windows were broken out, some tools stolen out of them."
As for safety, with the suspects still on the loose, workers would like to see more patrols. Until then, "Just have you're coworkers watch what you're doing in and out of the buildings," said Connolly. "We just have to be more vigilant."
Kablelink Communications told us that their employee was not injured during the carjacking. Meanwhile, police said there was a suspicious vehicle spotted in the area, described as a 2000 "sky" blue Mazda.
Anyone with information should call Orlando Police, or Crimeline at 800-423-TIPS (8477).
