A Port Orange killed her mother after telling police voices told her to do it, investigators say.
Jennifer Huntington, 33, told Port Orange Police she strangled her mom to death Thursday night after voices told her to do it.
Huntington told police she used a silk scarf and choked her mom for 49 minutes, killing 62-year-old Fabian Huntington.
Jennifer Huntington told police she took an entire bottle of pain medication, and when her mom started yelling about some bills, she snapped.
According to a charging affidavit, the last words Fabian Huntington heard were, "Momma, don't fight it, don't fight it."
The report said that just before midnight on Thursday, January 3, 2013, Jennifer Huntington walked to a neighbor's home and rang the door bell wearing only a bath towel. The neighbors asked what was wrong, and Huntington replied that she "wanted it to all go away." The neighbors fed her, not knowing what had just happened, and called authorities.
Huntington then went voluntarily to a psychiatric ward, where she told a worker what had happened.
Huntington and her mother lived on Rampart Drive in Port Orange. She is facing first-degree murder charges.
