A report released Tuesday by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says 14 million women binge drink about three times a month and consume an average of six drinks per binge.

The new "Vital Signs" report says 1 in 8 adult women and 1 in 5 high school girls binge drink.

The CDC says binge drinking is defined for women as consuming four or more drinks on an occasion.

According to the CDC, binge drinking results in nearly 23,000 deaths in women and girls each year and increases the chances of diseases such as breast cancer, heart disease and sexually transmitted diseases.
