Arrrrgh, matey! Get ready to set sail for a high-seas adventure. Legoland Florida is adding a new pirate themed area called "Pirate Shores." Park officials are not saying much about it, but locals are hearing bit and pieces of information.
Chase Roberts, manager of Tijuana Flats Restaurant, which is right next to Legoland, says he is picking up a little here and a little there from Legoland employees who come in for lunch.
"They're all excited about it," Roberts said. "They're talking to me about it, but I don't know if that's something I should be talking about."
We do know that the new area will have at least one water ride. If it is modeled after the pirate area at Legoland California, it may have an attraction like "Splash Battles." The California website says the ride lets kids "navigate pirate infested waters" as they shoot off cannons.
Along with the new pirate area, Legoland Florida's general manager, Adrian Jones, confirmed that the park is planning to build a new themed hotel in the next five years.
