The Inskips just can't catch a break.
They've been displaced from their home since Hurricane Sandy hit on their anniversary.
Melissa Inskip tears up as she an her family look at the damage to their Brigantine, New Jersey home. "Once you go inside it's worse than I could imagine."
Sandy flooded the first floor--forcing her husband and two kids out.
Now just days before they planned to move back in a Thursday morning fire destroyed the rest.
"I just want my home back. I want my home back," Inskip said as her voice quivered.
Fire officials say that might not be possible.
Charred rubble litters the floor of the home now deemed unsafe to live in.
Outside sheetrock and insulation are stacked up in a pile.
Firefighters tore it out of the partially renovated house.
Melissa and her husband--both unemployed--have been doing the repairs themselves.
Using their savings to fix the house Melissa grew up in and has called home for 42-years.
"I always thought you can always go home. Now it hit me we cant go home."
Fire investigators say the slow burning fire started in a first floor crawl space and may have been caused by an electrical problem.
The Inskips are now facing the problem of finding money to make repairs before their temporary housing runs out in March
They're counting on flood and other insurance money to make repairs. They say that money has been slow coming in.
