FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (AP) - The family of a man who was fatally shot by police officers in Flagstaff during August 2006 has agreed to settle its wrongful death lawsuit for $100,000.
The Arizona Daily Sun reports that the Flagstaff City Council is expected on Tuesday to approve the settlement of the lawsuit filed in the death of 23-year-old Kyle Garcia.
A Flagstaff police officer and another officer from the Arizona Department of Public Safety have said they pulled over Garcia because music coming from his vehicle violated a noise ordinance.
The officers say they fired shots after Garcia tried to run them over.
An investigation cleared the officers of criminal charges and concluded they acted in self-defense.
A toxicology exam show high levels of meth and cocaine in Garcia's bloodstream at the time.
