Students in Chattooga County started school two hours late, and will be getting out early on Tuesday because of concerns of flooding of the Chattooga River. Authorities in the county tell FOX 5's Julia Reynolds that they are checking low-lying areas to make those living there are safe.
The FOX 5 Storm Chaser caught up with an ambulance that got stuck in the mud after sliding off the road. That truck then also got stuck and had to call in another wrecker.
Officials in Dade and Walker counties say minor flooding has also occurred in their counties.
The saturated ground caused a huge tree to fall and clip a home in northwest Atlanta on Tuesday. One of the old tree's big limbs hit the roof of the home on Mornington Drive.
Craig and Andie Goodrich are grateful most of the tree missed their house. Craig had already left for work when the tree fell. Andie had moved her car just moments before it came down right where it was parked.
More showers are expected by Thursday night, and as temperatures drop, some areas in the North Georgia mountains could see a wintry mix, said Feldman.
