A man's project called "13in13" hopes to create a year of arts by bringing 13 shows to audiences in 2013.
The shows include spoken-word performances, workshops, jazz, a photography exhibit and music, among others, and are all written, produced or presented by Joseph Reed Hayes.
"It's all kinds of things that are independently presented and it's original material. We're talking about original jazz, original theater, all kinds of things that don't have an audience, a place to be performed." Hayes said.
The first performance is a screening of the Grammy-nominated movie "Big Easy Express," about the alt-folk band Mumford & Sons' experiences during a train ride from California to New Orleans.
On June 25, jazz musician Heather Friedman and her band will perform music from her EP.
