PERKASIE, Pa. -

A pick-up truck driven to school by a North Penn High School student was found to have three knives inside, including one that was 10 inches long, police said.

The knives were found on the same day North Penn School District officials say a pellet gun was taken from two middle school students.

According to Towamencin Township Police, the knives were reported by a school security officer, who noticed them inside the pick-up truck, which police say was parked in an unauthorized parking space.

Police say a 10-inch "Gerber Knife," a KA Bar Knife and A Multi-blade style knife were found.

The knives were turned over to police.

The student, an 18-year-old, was taken into custody. Police say he is expected to be formally charged with possession of weapons on school property.

North Penn School District officials say a pellet gun was taken from two middle school students as they arrived to school Thursday, however the gun was not operational.

According to a statement posted on the North Penn School District website, the two middle school students were seen by classmates at Pennfield Middle School with an Airsoft pellet gun on Wednesday. The gun was confiscated as the students arrived to class on Thursday.

District officials say the two students did not threaten anyone and no students were in any danger.

"It is the priority of the North Penn School District to ensure the safety of our staff and students at all times," the statement read.

"The students who reported the situation, as they are always instructed to do, should be commended for following the procedures NPSD has in place for keeping our schools safe."

The district says the students will be disciplined per its discipline code.
