DETROIT (WJBK) -- A man who police say took his 93-year-old father's corpse from a Detroit cemetery and stored the body in a freezer in hopes of a resurrection has been charged in the theft.

On Friday, in the 36th District Court in Detroit, 48-year-old Vincent Bright of Detroit is charged with disinterment of a body.  The crime carries up to 10-years in prison.  Bond was set at $75,000 cash.

Police say Clarence Bright's son was arrested this week along with another man after officers found an empty casket inside their van at a gas station.

Police say that the son took the body, which had not yet been buried, hoping to pray over it in order to be miraculously resurrected.

Police found the body as at Vincent Bright's home, in a deep freezer in the basement.

Bright has a series of prior crimes from back in the 80's and now his mental health is in question as his case moves forward.
