ATHENS, Ga. (AP) - An Athens musician who served for years as road manager for the rock band the Drive-By Truckers has died.
The Athens Banner-Herald reports 48-year-old Craig Lieske died Friday after being taken to Athens Regional Medical Center. Coroner Sonny Wilson says the cause of death was not immediately determined.
Lieske had long been a fixture on the Athens music scene. On Thursday he performed with Thundercrack, a group made up of Drive-By Truckers roadies, to open the Trucker's show in Athens.
On the band's Facebook page, frontman Patterson Hood called Lieske "1 of the greatest rockers I've ever known." He said the band planned to "raise glasses and guitars to our dear friend and loved one."
