ROYAL OAK TWP., Mich. (WJBK) -- Authorities are investigating an attack outside a Kroger store in Royal Oak Township.

Oakland County deputies are looking for the young man who attacked a teenage girl outside the store on Eight Mile Road and Wyoming Wednesday night. The 16-year-old girl had just returned to her car when the suspect tried to attack her with a can of mace.

Deputies say the teen fought back causing the man to drop the mace. He then stole her cell phone, punched her in the head and ran off.

We're told the suspect is a black male around 18-20 years old with a light complexion and a thin build. He was wearing a green Michigan State hat, a gray MSU hooded sweatshirt with green writing and cargo pants.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Oakland County Sheriff's office.
