AURORA, Colo. (FOX 25 / MyFoxBoston.com) – An armed home invasion occurred at the Colorado home of a New England Patriots player on Sunday night.
According to police in Aurora, two men with masks and handguns forced their way into safety Derrick Martin's home located in the 24700 block of East Irish Drive around 8:05 p.m. The suspects held one adult and several children at gunpoint and ransacked the home.
The suspects reportedly took several items of value, but police are unsure whether or not they were looking for specific items. It was also unclear if the suspects targeted Martin's home.
Police said the suspects were not in the home very long, and the victims called police after the men had left. No one was injured during the incident.
The investigation into the reported armed home invasion is ongoing.
Martin is Denver native and played college football at the University of Wyoming. He was drafted by the Baltimore Ravens in the sixth round of the 2006 NFL Draft and has also played for the Green Bay Packers and New York Giants. He re-signed with the Patriots in October.
