A Lakeland woman says she has been in search of her attorney for months, but he has been missing in action.
"Do you think he is going to re-surface?" FOX 13 asked Cheryl Ledbetter.
"No," Ledbetter responded.
"Where does that leave you?"
"In limbo, trying to find another attorney to handle suing him personally," Ledbetter said.
Ledbetter went to attorney Joe Kruk to sue a company in a slip and fall case. About five months ago, she says he stopped returning emails and his cell phone was disconnected.
On Wednesday, FOX 13 went to his office, knocked on the door and got no response. Neighboring tenants say they haven't seen him in months. We also emailed him, and left a message on his office phone, but didn't hear back.
A representative of the Florida Bar says the bar required Kruk to take an ethics course, and he did. However, the Bar spokeswoman says he has not paid the course and late charges. In all, he owes $900. As a result, the Bar says he is no longer eligible to practice law in Florida.
