A Brandon man arrested Thursday at an Orlando park after traveling 80 miles to meet a young girl for sex is set to face a judge today.
Agents with the Florida Department of Law Enforcement say Ryan Mason, 31, thought he was chatting with the father of a 12-year-old girl to arrange a rendezvous with the minor, but the father was actually an undercover agent. Mason even sent agents pornographic pictures, investigators said.
Mason then drove to Orlando Festival Park on Robinson Street to meet the young girl for sex, they said.
"He had all means necessary to cause major violent harm to that child. Thank goodness we were able to be where we were to prevent that from happening," FDLE agent Jeff Duncan said. "He came prepared to have sex with a 12-year-old."
During the arrest, Mason asked agents to kill him, they said.
Mason was booked into the Orange County Jail on multiple charges.
