What bugs you about driving in Atlanta?

Posted: Updated:
ATLANTA -

We all have them -- those pet peeves that drive us crazy. For many, the biggest headache in Atlanta is the traffic. Not many in the metro area are immune to the traffic nightmare.

For those caught up in Atlanta's often congested traffic, it's enough to make you scream. One driver tells FOX 5 that he can't stand it when Interstate 85 north or south becomes a parking lot.

Harris Blackwood, the director of the Governor's Office of Highway Safety, hears about traffic issues all the time. He even has a few of his own pet peeves.

"In traffic, somebody's trying to go around a crash and no one will let them over then that one person drives up, sneaks in and off they go. People get so fixed on ‘I've got to get to work! And it's crazy,'" said Blackwood.

We're all probably guilty of checking our phones every now and then, but many of you hate seeing other drivers do it. Blackwood says he sees people texting while driving quite often, and texting is not the only distraction to top the list.

"Putting on makeup, eating. There are people trying to put ketchup on French fries driving down the road. That's crazy, and it's dangerous -- so dangerous," said Blackwood.

The number one complaint is that people can't drive.

"They drive too fast, they brake too much and they ride too close," said a motorist.

One male driver pointed the finger at women as the problem for our driving woes in the metro area.

"It's pretty good for me. I'm from New York, so I'm used to worse traffic," said Karl Willingham. He says the Atlanta traffic isn't that bad.
