How Was Election Day For You? Mayor Nutter Wants To Know

PHILADELPHIA -
Mayor Michael Nutter and Managing Director Richard Negrin want to know how election day was for you in Philadelphia.
Two public meetings are scheduled for next month to discuss Election Day experiences. The meetings come after a six-member committee was appointed by Nutter last month to review the election.
"We've heard stories ranging from long-time voters not being found in the poll book to improperly filed provisional ballots," Nutter said in a statement. "In most cases, though, these stories are anecdotes. We need to put names and faces on these problems."
The city says the request for public feedback is part of the mayor's efforts to analyze the problems that occurred on Election Day and to find ways to make improvements.
"Slightly more than 4 percent of Philadelphians voted by provisional ballot," Negrin said in a statement. Our initial response shows that this is a much higher number than the rest of the state. We want to find out why it was higher and we need the public's help to do that."
Voters can share their stories or make recommendations by visiting the city's election 2012 website. Voters can also call or text 267-209-FACT to share their stories.
The city says the public meetings are scheduled for February 6 from 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the Mayor's Reception Room on the 2nd floor of City Hall and on February 28 from 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Bright Hope Baptist Church at 1601 N. 12th Street.
