With approval ratings at 65-70 percent for NJ Gov. Chris Christie, State Sen. Barbara Buono (D) is facing an uphill battle to unseat Christie.

Insiders say Buono is the likely Democratic nominee to challenge Christie in 2014.

The Newark native says she is confident that voters will see past poll numbers.

"You don't need a poll to know New Jerseyans are suffering. They're suffering under the highest property taxes in the nation. The opportunities I had growing up in Nutley, New Jersey-- I paid for college, I paid for law school-- there were jobs to pay those things off," Buono told Good Day NY on Tuesday.
