Illegal Immigrants: 'Finally Something's On The Table'

Los Angeles, CA -

The cheers were deafening as President Obama talked about immigration reform Tuesday in Las Vegas, Nevada.

David Rodas and Alberto Verla were among those cheering inside La Placita Methodist Church in downtown Los Angeles as they watched the president on a big screen and heard him talk about the 11 million illegally here and "in the shadows" -- the undocumented.

David and Alberto are among those "in the shadows." Alberto, who dreams of being a U.S. citizen, has been here since 1999 after coming here to work. Everyday he cleans offices as a janitor.

For 27 years Rodas has been dreaming of being a citizen. Both were moved by the president's speech on comprehensive immigration reform. Verla says it's hard to be in those shadows. An example, he says, is trying to drive because he can't get a driver's license. After watching the President he tells me "finally something is on the table!"

Leslye Osegueda, a UCLA graduate, is undocumented and extremely excited because "...the President is actually being proactive about this."
